A Message from the Candidate (11.25.09)

During this Thanksgiving week, I want to take a moment to recognize some of the things I am grateful for such as great family, friends, wonderful and dedicated volunteers, the beautiful changing leaves on the trees that surround our communities, and the warm welcome of the many Oregonians I have met on the campaign trail. I also want to remember the great achievements that happened this year such as the confirmation of Sonia Sotomayor, the passage of Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay and Matthew Shepard Acts, and the great strides we have taken towards health care for all, job creation, and unemployment extensions so badly needed. At the same time that I am grateful for so much, we cannot forget the hard work that is ahead of us – the need to create well paying jobs quickly, the need to reform our credit systems to ensure those who lost so much have a way to rebuild, and working to bring home our troops who are still fighting abroad away from their families this Thanksgiving Day.

This holiday season, let’s stop a moment to reflect on the good things in our lives, but also take a moment to recommit to working to improve the lives of all Oregonians.

I wish you and your families a good and enjoyable holiday,

David
